EMDC celebrated the 2008 holiday season with a re-imagined performance of a classic winter’s tale. “Saint George and the Dragon” followed Saint George as he searched for his one true love, Spring. One of the four daughters of Father Christmas and Mother Earth, Spring had been taken captive by her older sister, Winter, who wished to reign forever. Saint George’s quest for Spring took him across great distances. Along his travels, he met Spring’s other two sisters, Summer and Autumn, who helped Saint George by sending him on the right path. Finally, he found Winter’s lair, where Spring was being guarded by Envy, a ferocious and mighty dragon. A great battle took place in which Envy killed Saint George. But all was not lost. Spring called upon Love, Hope, and Faith, who brought Saint George back to life. Saint George then defeated Envy, freeing Spring from Winter’s grasp. The happy couple journeyed to the home of Spring’s parents, where they celebrated Spring’s return in grand holiday style. Spring’s sisters arrived to honor her hero. Even Winter joined in the celebration after she begged forgiveness from all, having seen the error of her ways. Everyone, of course, lived happily ever after.
